LightSPEED Headsets
& Vertex Standard Handheld Radios
The Flying Club has an agreement with LightSPEED, makers of ANR (active noise reduction) and passive headsets. The agreement allows the Club to sell LightSPEED headsets and some Vertex Standard handheld radios to members only. As an authorized seller, the Club can purchase these headsets and radios at a considerable discount and pass on the discount to members.
Several years ago, when a couple manufacturers had the ANR market sewed up with headsets at $1000+, LightSPEED jumped into the market with an ANR headset at half the cost. As it turned out, this headset not only had a great price, it offered excellent noise canceling performance. In addition, the unit was well made and very comfortable. As a result, LightSPEED has become very successful and now offers many models of ANR and passive headsets.

The Club recommends LightSPEED´s headsets over others based on their quality craftsmanship, their comfort, their reasonable prices, and they´re a local Northwest company, but most of all because our members have very positive experiences and comments about LightSPEED’s headsets.
Great Basic Headset:
QFRSolo
While there’s no doubt of the advantage of active noise reduction headsets, many pilots don´t have pockets deep enough. We first saw the QFRSolo headset (QFR stands for Quiet Flight Rules) at one of our Open Houses, and we were very impressed. Its exceptionally comfortable and has the highest noise reduction rating of any aviation headset: 28.7 db! You can´t do better for an entry-level headset.
Other options: The QFRSoloSS has upgraded features and warrantee from the QFRSolo, and the QFRXC2 is the same style as the QFRSolo, but with ANR.
